Anyone tried a carb intake and dist on a ls1?
here is a pic of the software and my graph. i use a serial to usb connector and i also updated my software from MSDs website. the cd with the box is outdated. just plot a graph, key the ignition to give it life, save the file to the MSD box, and start the car.

tune carb accordingly and enjoy. i dont run any vacuum advance on mine.

MSD 6012 is the box you will need.

Now a carb style intake will have a better performance setup as its intake runners are all just about equal length (no #7+8 starvation), they are shorter runners than the EFI manifold, They will stand up to boosted application and nitrous backfires MUCH better, and they look way cooler
. Mines going to have a street scoop mounted to it and sticking out of my hood to give it an old school look since my carb choke horn just about touches my hood as it is. The carb intake is an open plenum design that seems to have some top end air flow advantages. GM sells an LS2 crate motor in both a fuel injected and carb'd version. With the same cam and exhaust they rate the carb version at 446 HP and the FI at 405. Maybe they used a more agressive tune with the carb, but my guess the difference is more with the manifold more than the carb.
Really it comes down to what you want to do and how well each option fits your situation. They both can be made to perform.

I want the timing retard functions, and programmable curves so looks like the 6010 is the ticket. Nitrous, blower, all is good.
*I did have to go with a different carb... the one is the pictures wasn't so good.
