Default 220/220 cam vs 224/224 cam

I've been looking at both TSP 220/220 and 224/224 camshafts. I'm look for a camshaft that's very streetable, can pass emissions and idles very smooth (close to stock). My car is a summer daily driver that I take to the track once in awhile. I've norrowed it down to these two camshafts and I'll also be running TSP 5.3 Stage 2.5 heads.

both cams are very streetable cams ,but with sets of heads you need bigger one a 224/224 seems a good companion to your heads with 114 LSA and good tuning well smooth your idling to nearly stock .
the 220 is good for only cams cars
If i where you i would go for TSP 228R ,strong mid high and 100% streetable just you need to find a good tuner .
good luck

i had the same problem 2 weeks ago. I went with ts 224 with a 116 lsa. Iknow thats high, I would have gone lower if I didn't wana keep my "stock like" idle. I'm pleased with it's driveability. Feels stock. idles like stock. Only way to tell is the deeper exhaust tone, and very slight lope. the average person wouldn't pick up on it. Go with a 224

Do I also have to upgrade my fuel injectors if I'm going with the 224/224 camshaft and 5.3 stage 2.5 heads?

Wrong.

You should be fine on a 224 cam, 2.5 heads & stock injectors/pump. If you ever add nitrous you will want to upgrade to at least 36# injectors & get it retuned.

This isn't a real demanding combo. Now with lardger H/C combos you might need to upgrade but its gonna depend on weather you just want a smog friendly combo as you listed or a max effort 346 H/C combo.

I have been running my 224/5.3 head combo for a year untuned & I have plenty of fuel. My car is running rich & has been since she fired back up after the installs. I'm averaging about 300 miles per tank or 18mpg mixed city/hwy driving also untuned. So this combo is also gas friendly while adding more power without being super noticeable.

I agree with Mike.... however, I will be upgrading to 42# injectors eventually... not that i'm having any issues now, but I AM at the edge of maxing out... but my combo is also a little more extreme so...

I just want to make as much power as I can while being smog friendly. I'm not planning on adding any force induction system on the car. It's just all motor.

well look into the mti stealth 2 camshaft. It will idle almost like stock and make very good power. It is made to sound like a stock cam and it comes very close. Get the 224/224 one because while you are buying the parts you might as well get the bigger cam since you will see no difference in driveabality anyways and you will just get more power out of the 224.
