Default So many clutches! Please vote!

What do you guys recommend for 300-400 rwhp/rwtq? Everybody's got a different opinion on clutches and there all over, want to try and get it all in one place. So what do you recommend as a replacement for stock to full bolt-ons? Sorry if I didn't get everything up there, as clutches are still chinese to me, trying to pull what I read from the various threads and couldn't find a good answer.

I voted RAM Powergrip. I had it in my old Formula with just under 400rwhp and it drove just like stock.

I have a Spec clutch in the SS now, but it was put in before I bought it. It chattered like hell for a while and then stopped later on (i knew the previous owner really well).

LS7 wouldnt be a bad choice either, but I have never driven one, it is however cheaper than all the other options I believe.

But I do vouch for RAM

My Mcleod street twin has been great, it drives like stock and grabs like a ****. Its kinda pricey but for $300 Mcleod does a complete rebuild on them.

Id just stay away from spec. Do a search on them, they dont last long for most people. I had a stg 3 go out in 6k miles and a good friends 3+ crapped out in 3k.

if your doing heads and cam.... TWIN DISK CLUTCH

i have run a Mcleod twin disk rst. Both for weekend cruising and racing.. the clutch is great! I launch at 5k rpm and cut 1.4 60' times. the clutch loves it!

Its a great clutch:
-lighter then stock pedal effort
-great street driving
-amazing track driving
-mcleod has over 30yrs of racing experience

the RST and RXT by mcleod are smaller in diamter, that equals less rotating mass. Faster revs. Twin disk, have more mating surfaces and allow for a very light pedal.

Twin disk is the only way too go.

I chose a ram Powergrip HD clutch. Smooth engagement rated at 600hp/600tq I havent heard really any posts about people complaining with ram clutches, were ive seen allot of bad stuff with spec. The LS7 is reliatively expensive compared to aftermarket built clutches, its much heavier also.

You did not include Textralia, the only clutch that has a near 100% fail safe rate.

Thats the ONLY clutch i'll ever install in any high HP application I build.

TEXtralia. Mines been flawless for 2.5 yrs and over 20,000 miles. Just installed one in a customers car, and he loves it, which I expected. I wouldn't recommend anything else if someone's actually gonna DRIVE the car.

So far I've been happiest with my Textralia OZ700 Z-grip, but for your HP level, I would think an X-grip might even suit you better if you don't do a ton of high RPM launching at the track.

Had a ram power grip and went through 2 of them in 2 years, liked the clutch but not good at 550 rwhp. Have a Fideza 6 puck carbon and seems to be good to 650 rwhp but does chatter a bit.

Always stay OEM if it will be compatible with your goals/current power. Always. Works better then Excedrin at reducing headaches.

I am gonna give the monster clutch a shot when it comes time. They are new, but I hear good things. They have been over at ls1gto.com for a little while. Gotta love the 12 month warranty.
