A non-operational power window can be quite troublesome. From the impending doom of a storm rolling into town if the window is stuck down, to not being able get some fresh air if the window is stuck up. Power windows are largely the same across all makes and models, and can be simplified down to a few major components. That means that diagnosing a dead window usually isn't too hard. In fact, normally, the most tedious part of the job is removing the door card to expose the power window mechanism. With that said, if your window is out of the game, here's how to rejuvenate it.

Step 2 – Replace window regulator and motor

Make sure the window is all the way up before beginning. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window motor, then remove the door speaker. Remove the three bolts from the motor. Remove the window regulator bolt and carefully push the regulator outward while pulling it through the speaker opening to remove it. If you are not replacing the motor at this time, unbolt it and bolt it to the new motor. Slide the new power window assembly back in the door through the speaker opening and align it with the bolt holes. Reinstall the four bolts and nuts. At this point it's a good idea to plug in the window switch on the door panel and test it before reassembly.
