How to Replace Your Spoiler
Materials Needed
- New spoiler
- Plastic pry tool
- Ratchet set
- Epoxy, as necessary
Step 1 – Remove the old spoiler
Open the rear of the Camaro and look underneath the spoiler. You’ll see bit of plastic there covering the hood. Peel away and you’ll be exposed to the four screws holding the spoiler in place. Also, there is the light connection for the brake.
Remove the screws, detach the light connect, and carefully lift the spoiler up and away from the vehicle. Take your time so as to not scratch the car.
Step 2 – Replace with new spoiler
Carefully insert the screws for the new spoiler into the screw holes of the old spoiler. Once fully inserted, tighten the bolts until the spoiler does not move. Once satisfied, connect the brake light connection to the spoiler. For additional security, apply epoxy.
Replace the plastic bit to the hood of the vehicle and close the hatch. Have a friend or family member stand behind the vehicle and test the brake light out to ensure it lights up.
Step 3 – Test the spoiler
Take your Camaro for a drive on local streets at low speeds to test the security of the spoiler’s lock system to the vehicle's rear hatch. As the spoiler continues to prove it’s tightly secured to the car, take the Camaro on to more open roads with faster speed limits. Continue to monitor the connection and listen for any rattles. Should the spoiler wobble or appear insecure, pull over and check the bolts.
